February is one of my favorite months in the Texas Hill Country. The crowds are lighter, the weather is usually perfect for being outside, and you can do a full weekend of wineries, small towns, and cozy dinners without it feeling hectic.
Here are some fun February ideas across Dripping Springs, Wimberley, Fredericksburg, and beyond.
1. Make it a winery month with a passport
If you love a structured plan (and good excuses to explore), the Texas Hill Country Wineries Wine Lovers Celebration Passport runs from late January through February 27, 2026 and includes 55 plus wineries.
This is an easy date day, girls weekend, or “let’s do one new place each week” plan. More details.
2. Do a Dripping Springs weekend with breweries, music, and something different
The Destination Dripping Springs events calendar is stacked in February with live music and special events like pairing dinners, brewery happenings, and even a chili cook off.
It’s the easiest way to build a weekend plan without overthinking it. Check out the Calendar Here.
3. Go to a real Hill Country event at Ranch Park
If you want something local and community style, Dripping Springs Ranch Park has a full calendar of February events including farmers markets and arena events.
This is also a great idea if you have kids and want something casual that still feels like an outing.
4. Make Wimberley a chili and live music day
Wimberley Chilifest 2026 is on February 21, 2026 at Cypress Falls Event Center.
Pair it with lunch, a little shopping, and a sunset drive and you have a perfect Hill Country Saturday. Tickets Here.
5. Go antiquing and treasure hunting in Fredericksburg
Fredericksburg Trade Days is a classic for a reason. Hundreds of vendors, live music, and you can make it a full day.
If you’re into curated home style, it’s the kind of place you leave with something unique. I Love Trade Days! Here is more info and no tickets needed!
6. Do a quirky small town parade in Bandera
If you want something totally different, Bandera has a Cowboy Mardi Gras Parade listed for February 7, 2026.
It’s very Texas, very fun, and makes a great day trip. More Info.
7. Do an art focused day in Dripping Springs
There’s an art tour listed for February 28 in Dripping Springs.
It’s a great way to mix something cultural into a weekend that might otherwise be all food and wine. Tour of the West.
8. Build a simple February Hill Country itinerary
If you want an easy plan that always works
Morning hike or a scenic drive to Pedernales State Park or the Enchanted Rock.
Lunch in town. My favorite is Thyme and Dough in Dripping Springs, Hays City Store in Driftwood, Nada Mucho in Wimberley and Hill and Vine in Fredericksburg!
Afternoon shopping or a winery stop
Golden hour photos. These would be stunning at Old Baldy in Wimberley.
Early dinner and a cozy night in
February is one of the best months to enjoy the Hill Country before spring gets busy. If you want a custom weekend plan based on where you are staying, send me your town and the vibe you want and I will map it out.
